Chris Keane

Job history and background
Straight out of school I started building for Dad in 2003 and also completed my apprenticeship with him. I went out on my own and started Keane Building in 2009

Favourite part of building
I don’t do a lot on the tools these days but when I do I like standing frames. I also enjoy the challenge of problem solving.

Favourite project
Tough question, that’s like choosing my favourite child! Probably building our current home. We have done a lot of great projects but there’s nothing quite as satisfying as building your own home.

Hobbies and interests
Wakeboarding, snowboarding, rugby, diving

Most memorable Keane Building moment
Winning at the 2018 Master Builder House of the Year nationals. It was our first time entering so we didn’t really know what to expect.

Job history and background
I was a Primary school teacher for 9 years. I started working for Keane Building after our first son was born in 2015.

Favourite part of building
I don’t do any actual building but seeing the frames go up is always exciting.

Favourite project
A tricky question for me to answer as I’m not on site but I love the views from both the Bosworth’s and the MacDonald’s so I would have to say either of those.

Most memorable Keane Building moment
Winning house of the year in 2018. Seeing our team be successful at House of the Year and in their personal lives.

Dads a builder my brothers are builders it’s the only job we know. I did a couple of years at Kiwi Rail in the bridge gang and learnt a few new things before coming back building.

Favourite part of building
My favourite part of building is working with my brothers and awesome crew/friends at Keane Building. I also love the fact that we get to build people's homes and seeing how happy they are with them is an awesome feeling.

Favourite project
The Bosworth home. It was the first project we did with Ben from Linetype Architectural which started us on this path and the clients were awesome. Fernihurst is a very close second. Amazing clients again and it was something different to what we had been doing and that spot is magic!

Hobbies and interests
Hanging with family, coaching rugby/ being part of a team, bbq.

Most memorable Keane Building moment
So many amazing times with the lads. Most of them involved beers. But possibly winning the house or the year also the night we had at Bosworth’s after they moved in.
